7 Things That May Be Draining Your Joy (Part 2) By Iyke Nwambie

Continued from yesterday:
2. The Leaky Hole Of Hatred Can Drain Your Joy Level
Apart from the story you tell yourself daily in your internal dialogues, another leaky hole that can drain our joy level is the leaky hole of hatred. Hatred is what the Bible refers to as "the root of bitterness." In Hebrews 12:15 the scripture tells us that hatred or the root of bitterness is one of those things that can cause us to shortchange ourselves of the grace that God has made available to us in Christ Jesus. That scripture says:
"Looking diligently lest any man falls short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled..." (Hebrews 12:15).
Not only does hatred shortchange us of God's grace, it also defiles the spiritual beauty and elegance that God has decorated us with.
While it remains a fact of life that we may have many cogent reasons why we may prefer to hold grudges, it is needful for us to remember that holding grudges never hurts the offender but us. It sticks a root of bitterness in our attitude and I often liken that root of bitterness to poison with this statement: "bitterness is a poison and not a porridge."
My dear reader, the best approach to handle your offenders is to disconnect from them without a feeling of hatred. Disconnect your thought from the pain of that painful divorce, disconnect your thought from what your ex-spouse said and did to you, disconnect your thought from that friend who cheated you in a business deal, disconnect your thought from the ugly treatment by your boss...Yes, let these words by Dr. Martin Luther King Junior resonate with you today:
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” ~Martin Luther Jnr.
Yes, seal up those leaky holes of hatred with love, dispel that darkness of hatred with the light of love and see how your level of joy will blossom. May the yoke of hatred be roasted from you today, in Jesus name. (Watch out for part 3).
